You're hot!

Last night I went on a date. While walking from the restaurant to his car, my date noticed I was a little cold, so when we got to the car, he was very considerate and turned the heat on high. I thanked him but said he didn't need to do so, because I was sure he would get rather hot very quickly. He replied that he could just push up his sleeves if he was getting too warm. Later during the drive, noticed he was pushing up his sleeves. My immediate response was to cry, "Oh, you're hot!" Oops! I can't begin describe the awkwardness which ensued.

The Cakewalk

Last night my mother's ward (aka religious congregation) had a chili cook-off and cakewalk for the kids. We made a pumpkin by putting two bunt pans together and using a cupcake as the stem. This little cowboy was the lucky winner of our cake.

America's Next Great Designer: Me

I've been watching lots of old episodes of Project Runway. This has led to two thing:

1. An adoration of Tim Gunn: He's fabulous. Why don't the designers listen to his advice more? He's always right.

2. An urge sew my own Halloween costume: Why must the designers' skill make me think that I, too, can create a beautiful item of clothing? I'm not sure. I tried ignoring this urge, but it got the best of me so I bought fabric and began cutting. So far, so good, but there is still a lot to be sewn. I'll probably post pictures if my endeavor is successful. Who knows, Halloween this year may lead to Bryant Park.

It is a little thinking about Christmas, but it is not to early to think about the Neiman Marcus Christmas catalog! It came in the mail today and offers the best over-the-top gifts anyone could ever want. For example, would you like the Dallas Cowboys' end zone in your backyard? No worries. Neiman Marcus can get that to you. How about a Custom Built Guiness Pub for your house? Neiman's got you covered, there, too. A medieval viking ring? A Backyard Golf Course designed by Jack Nicklaus (and he'll come play with you)? Your own Thoroughbred Stable with 12 race-quality horses? Neiman Marcus has them all. So what should you get me for Christmas? I wouldn't mind if you got me every 45 vinyl that was on the Billboard Top 1o0 Rock and Pop Charts from 1955 to 1990. Just a thought.

Going Once, Going Twice...

I was recently going through my bedroom and I found an unused ink cartridge that fit a printer that I no longer own. What do you do with a ink cartridge that is brand new? I decided to sell it on ebay. Someone has already bid on it, so now I'm getting excited to see how the auction ends. Who knew ebay could be so much fun?
