FSU Flying High

I've been looking at university budgets for the last few days at work. Schools have some crazy things! For example, Texas A&M has a Meat Judging Team. Apparently, they're good, too. But by far the most ridiculous/fabulous expenditure made by an institution of higher learning is the Florida State Circus. Why didn't I go to FSU?

I listened to this Elliott Smith song while climbing in Moab, and I didn't know what it was called. After some extensive searching today (which is hard when the song has no lyrics!), I finally found it.

Best. Day. Ever.

Why? I went to the oral surgeon yesterday and had four wisdom teeth and two baby teeth pulled (yes, I had baby teeth at 24, and I still have another to be removed at some undecided future date.) And this is all a good thing? Oh yes. The loss of these six chompers has led to:

A piggy bank balance of $1.50, curtousy of my tooth fairy (yeah, that's a whopping 25 cents a tooth!)

Magnolia Bakery Banana Pudding for all meals.

Jello Shots. Ok, actually it was just jello in really small containers.

Lounging and watching movies.
Lounging and reading Kurt Vonnegut Jr. short stories.
Flowers from well-wishers.

My first ever hard pain killers experience (which was a little bit of a let-down)

I spent the last two weekends in June camping and climbing in Moab and Triassic with Sharla and Mike. We are awesome. Here are a few pictures.

Sharla and I got in some early morning yoga.

This is the only picture of me climbing from both weekends. How'd that happen?

Mike, our designated chef for weekend one, found this "apron," which we later used as kindling. He fed us quite well: he made raspberry brownie cobbler, peach lemon poppyseed cobbler and barbeque beans.

Me and Mike and his All-American Hot Barbeque Beans. The name of the beans was really longer, I just don't remember it all. Also, note the layers. I have on four. It was COLD in Triassic. And it rained. Lots. What happened to deserts being hot and dry?

Sharla and I hiked Bowtie and Corona while Mike road the Poison Spider Bike trail. Please note we did all our scrambling and hiking in Rainbows, Mike included.

Oh, the Grandparents

While visiting the Grandparents:

Grandpa: Have you seen my flowers yet?

Hayley: No, I haven't. Are they good this year?

Grandpa: Oh, they're really nice.

Grandma: They are really nice. He talks to them!

Grandpa: That's right. I talk to them, and they're doing really well.

Grandma: Now imagine how well I'd be doing if only he talked to me!
